Buying process

If a cow weighs 1,000 pounds live it will weigh approximately half or 500 pounds after the processor removes the head, hide and huffs, and abdominal organs. 

Then he lets it hang for approximately two weeks to let the blood drain and at that point, it will weigh approximately 500 pounds this is called the hanging carcass weight.

In this scenario:

• 1/8 of 500 pounds is 63 pounds times $8.00/lb for a total of $504.00
• 1/4 of 500 pounds is 125 pounds times $8.00/lb for a total of $1000.00
• 1/2 of 500 pounds is 250 pounds times $8.00/lb for a total of $2000.00
• Whole at 500 pounds times $8.00/lb for a total of $4000.00

Once your beef is cut from the bone it will be slightly less than 125 pounds due to bone and fat loss. You are welcome to have the bones and fat as well as the Kidneys, Oxtail, Liver, Heart, and Tongue.

For this example be mindful that the weight of the animal may be more or less than the 1,000 pounds mention above. Once your Lilly’s Leaf Grass Fed Beef is cut into Steaks, Roast, Ground beef, and other choice cut it will be vacuum-packed and delivered to you from our farm to your table!
